Oeh! Oeh! Ik heb nog een tip voor de liefhebbers van Thunderbird! Allez, toch voor zij die hun RSS feeds menageren met Thunderbird!

Als je een feed wil toevoegen, moet je niet noodzakelijk de URL gaan kopiëren om die dan met de optie manage subscriptions te importeren. Gewoon op de URL van de feed klikken en dan het zaakje slepen naar je news & blogs account volstaat ook!

De liefhebbers van het genre vinden hier een screencast (1,2mb groot! Gemaakt met Wink. Mensen die weten hoe je dit ding kleiner kan maken: by all means!)

Bon. Het goede nieuws Taggerati voor WordPress werd een uurtje geleden released. Het slechte nieuws: ik krijg het maar half aan de klap. De tagcloud en het taggen gaat, maar no go met de afzonderlijke pagina’s met een overzicht per tag. Dan word je getrakteerd op een 404. Niet fijn! Morgen kijk ik daar wel verder naar.

Ik ben nu al enkele dagen voor het werk aan het prutsen met Mediawiki. De zaak installeren op onze nieuwe serverruimte – die, bij de weg, dan toch geleased wordt bij Eurohost – en wat tweaken. In het begin vond ik de code een onontwarbaar kluwen. Ik was zelfs wat teleurgesteld. Echt proper zag het er niet uit. Maar naarmate ik er verder in werkte zag ik het geniale van de code in. Abstractie, afscherming,… Het is er allemaal. Bovendien laat alles zich makkelijker aanpassen dan initieel gedacht. Super! Met een beetje geluk heb ik een wiki draaien in no time.

Ik ga nog maar eens een poging ondernemen om del.icio.us geïntegreerd te krijgen in mijn blog. Ik heb gezien dat ze onder andere de nodige aanpassingen hebben gemaakt om del.icio.us items eindelijk in de juiste categorie te droppen. Ik heb dat nu zo ingesteld dat er elke dag om 17u een digest verschijnt. Ik zou ook nog zo’n beetje een cloud aan de klap willen krijgen. En ik zou nog willen… argh!

Ik zag daarjuist bij 7 seconden de term AJAX opduiken. Dat is niet de eerste keer de laatste dagen dat ik die zag passeren. Het intrigeerde mij. Wie of wat is AJAX en wat doet het? Een speurtocht op Wikipedia leverde mij deze uitleg op. En een definitie:

Ik heb mij onlangs shortstat geïnstalleerd. Dat vond ik wel een leuke plugin tot ik zag dat 49% van het verkeer op mijn site crawlers of internetrobots zijn. Wie die internetrobots nu precies zijn, daar heb ik het raden naar. Dat de googlebot er eentje van is, dat staat wel vast. Maar wie zijn die andere? Dat is informatie die Shortstat niet geeft. Meer nog, Shortstat bezit geen filter om die te herkennen! Schade. Op de website van Shaun Inman hoef ik ook niet meer informatie te verwachten. Blijkbaar liet hij Shortstat voor wat het was en is ie nu aan de gang met het commerciële Mint. Kortom, dokken of voortprutsen. En zelfs dan schijnt het zaakje nog moeilijk te doen. Zucht.

Via de thuisbasis heb ik deze gevonden. Hard maar waar want fora zijn nu eenmaal aparte wereldjes met een geheel eigen cultuur waarvan navelstaarderij vaak een centrale rol speelt.

Tip gekregen via Joris: probeer eens Konfabulator. Je kunt dan heel gemakkelijk allerlei leuke widgets op je desktop laten werken. Wat is een widget? Da’s een miniprogrammaatje met een beperkte functionaliteit. Bijvoorbeeld een lampje dat gaat branden wanneer je een e-mail ontvangt of zo. Heel leuk. Het mooie is dat konfabulator tot voor kort betalend was. Maar sinds Yahoo dit dingetje heeft overgenomen is het geheel gratis te downloaden.

De tip die ik dan weer heb is FlyakiteOSX. Dit programmaatje geeft je windows het uitzicht van MacOSX. Geluidjes en animaties incluis. Heel leuk is de dock met zoomfunctie. Het ziet er allemaal heel gelikt uit. Gecombineerd met Konfabulator lijkt het opeens helemaal niet meer op Windows.
