Much Ado About Nothing
In Engeland is een beklaagde veroordeeld om als ‘community service’ de Wikipedia aan te vullen. De man had de onhebbelijke gewoonte om aan te bellen bij de buren om dan gedetailleerde feitenkennis over krijgsgeschiedenis te debiteren. Opmerkelijk zijn de commentaren van zowel de rechter als de veroordeelde:
‘Now he can spend hours and hours doing something useful while his local community is a slightly more comfortable place to be. That’s what’s so wonderful about user generated content sites; it keeps all those fixated males at home with their computers, instead of having them out and about, freaking out the rest of us.’
En:

Naar het schijnt wordt er een blogribbendinner georganiseerd.

Ik heb het wikipedia-artikel wat bijgewerkt: toegevoegd zijn de secties rond belgische blogdiensten en blogdinners. Bijdragen blijven natuurlijk welkom!
Er schijnt ook een troll de ronde te doen. Een gewaarschuwd man is er dus twee waard.
Edit: Michel gaat in de tegenaanval. Kudos! Ik geef hem eigenlijk best wel gelijk: Nie memmen, gewoon samenzijn en genieten van de ribben!
Een hele poos terug had ik een artikel gestart op Wikipedia over de “Belgische Blogosfeer”. Ik vond het een leuk initiatief om na Loic Le Meur ook iets op Wikipedia te doen.
Ik had gehoopt dat het artikel wat zou worden onderhouden en aangevuld. Guess not. Zelf heb ik het zaakje ook niet echt in het oog gehouden. Tegenwoordig staat het artikel gevlagd “for deletion”. Dat heeft tot een leuke discussie op Wikipedia zelf geleid. Ik wil u enkele quotes alvast niet onthouden.
Strong Delete. How on Gods green earth is this notable or relevant in any way?
Keep; there’s so much crap on wikipedia already, why delete potentially useful information?

Keep There appears to be a war on blogs going on. The Canadian blogosphere article has also been targetted. Editors should be aware of the systemic bias that has been identified in Wikipedia against non-American, non-Anglophone entries, of which this is one.
