Hotel

So, I went to San Fransisco last week. I attended the LDCX conference at Stanford. Travelling solo from Europe to the Bay Area wasn’t something I had planned doing at the start of this year. But here we are, and looking back, I’m grateful for the opportunity. Without going into a detailed day-to-day report, here are several tips if you consider following my footsteps.

The easiest way to book flights is via Expedia. I spend a few hours comparing and I finally settled with a flight into San Fransisco International with Air Canada via Montreal. My return flight was operated by Lufthansa via Munich to Brussels. Considering I booked late – barely a month in advance – I think I still got a fair value deal.

En toen vertrokken we eindelijk naar Marrako. De reis was al even geleden geboekt bij Sunjets, dus we keken er enorm naar uit. Marrakech, Baby! We hadden gehoopt op een week rust, relax, ons voetjes onder de tafel kunnen schuiven zonder afwas te moeten doen en een stevige dosis cultuur. En we kregen waar voor ons geld.

We hadden het geluk dat we in een beter hotel net buiten de stad logeerden. Geen drukte en op tien minuutjes van het centrum en de luchthaven. Ideaal. Bleek dat de foto’s op de website en de magazines voor één keer ook de werkelijkheid weerspiegelden. We keken onze ogen uit toen we incheckten in een somptueuze lobby en onze valiezen door een echte bellboy werden weggebracht. De echte klapper was onze kamer. Ik had gelezen dat die een goeie vijftig vierkante meter groot zou zijn. En dat was niet gelogen. Met het terras erbij moet die ongeveer zo groot zijn geweest als mijn appartement. Met een luxueuze aparte badkamer met bad én douche en een gargantisch dubbel bed. En natuurlijk ook airco. Hét wapen tegen de extreme hitte.

Ik trek midden november voor een aantal dagen naar Finland. Ik verblijf onder andere in Helsinki. En wel in Hotel Arthur. De introductie en bijhorende foto’s op hun website zijn ronduit geniaal te noemen. Zeer Ikea inderdaad!

Just beside Hotel Arthur there is the P-Kluuvi Parking Center for over 700 cars – the parking fee is 12 EUR for 24 hours in 2004 for our guests. The chefs of Restaurant Arthur know how to prepare your meal. They put their heart and soul into their work. The delicious buffet lunch has already become a concept. The a la carte menu offers tasty delicacies for bigger or smaller appetites. Restaurant Arthur with its private rooms provides an ideal setting for group meals, family and company parties. Restaurant Arthur seats 250 guests and is fully licensed. Hotel Arthur has excellent conference and banqueting facilities. You can choose a suitable meeting room from the magnificent Ball Room and functional Auditorium into smaller conference rooms. All the rooms are equipped with modern technique. You can arrange banquets and other festivities also in the conference rooms.
